SkinPen® Microneedling
What is Microneedling?
With ageing, the outer skin layer (epidermis) thins, forming fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, and uneven skin texture.
Microneedling is a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses thin needles to make tiny holes in your epidermis. These needles create micro-injuries, which trigger the body to produce collagen and elastin – two proteins that contribute to skin firmness and smoothness.
The skin’s natural healing process results forms new cells that support the skin’s underlying tissue. The goal of microneedling treatment is an improved skin appearance and texture without causing scar tissue formation.
SkinPen® for Collagen Stimulation Therapy
The Skin's Natural Healing Response
As the SkinPen® penetrates the skin surface, this triggers the skin’s natural wound-healing process to increase blood flow and activate the creation of new tissue. Additionally, tissue remodelling of new skin is rich in collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin quality, visibly reducing facial acne scars, neck wrinkles, and irregular pigmentation, leaving skin more smooth, radiant, and younger-looking.
Which Areas Does SkinPen® Microneedling Treat?
SkinPen® Treatment at Our Wokingham, Berkshire Practice
Patient comfort guides every treatment at SKIN2 – we always have a consultation to pair you with the best cosmetic treatment that suits your needs. A trained practitioner performs each of our facial aesthetics treatments, and your appointment takes place in a relaxed atmosphere.
We apply topical anesthetic to the treatment area during your appointment to numb the discomfort. Generally, patients report feeling only the slight vibration of the SkinPen® during the treatment.
We carefully and skillfully glide the SkinPen® across the treatment area using the Skinfuse LIFT HG. This non-cytotoxic hydrogel supports wound healing, hydrates the skin, and balances pH during and after your microneedling appointment.
